Our lives are led by our mind, and our minds are led by ideas, concepts, media and technology – abstract realities. Following these, we lose touch with our living presence, and the refreshment and vibrancy it offers the heart. By directing awareness to our bodies we regain this presence and thereby regenerate heart.
The retreat will use mindfulness of body, qi gong and chanting. To support the cleansing process retreatants will observe eight precepts including no food in the evenings.
Qualifications:
- 1–2 years of meditation practice with 2 retreats of at least a weekend
- No outstanding or unaddressed mental health issues
- Can manage without an evening meal (miso-broth is served in the evening)
- Can attend the entire retreat
Venerable Ajahn Sucitto is a Buddhist monk (bhikkhu). He entered monastic life in 1975 in Thailand, but since 1978 has been based in Britain. He spent fourteen years training under Ajahn Sumedho, the senior Western disciple of Ajahn Chah, and so is part of that lineage of direct practice. The lineage has an umbrella website www.forestsangha.org. Ajahn Sucitto himself is based at Cittaviveka Monastery in Chithurst, West Sussex in Southern England (www.cittaviveka.org).

Location: Mundekulla, 10 km southwest of Emmaboda in Småland. SJ operates from Emmaboda station and from there you can pre-book a taxi through Ben’s Taxi, 0480-66 555.
Information with directions and other information will be sent to registered participants well in advance of the retreat.
Price: From 5,600 to 9,500 SEK depending on room type. All room types are available in a certain number and are reserved based on registration date.

Special accommodations for couples (double beds only)

For single, double and triple rooms with shared shower/toilet, you need to walk 15 meters outside to reach your shared shower/toilet. The sleeping alcoves have their shared shower/toilet downstairs.
Dana: The teaching of Vipassana meditation, the arrangement of the retreat, and the work of the chefs in preparing delicious retreat food are not included in the retreat fee. Instead Vipassanagruppen follows the Buddhist tradition and, at the end of the retreat, invites participants to give a voluntary donation/dana for the teaching, arrangement, and cooking.
Food: Vegetarian/vegan food with gluten-free options; special dietary requests unfortunately cannot be accommodated.

Registration: You make your booking by paying a registration fee of SEK 1,500 to Mundekulla, which constitutes a prepayment of the accommodation. You are then registered and will receive confirmation of this via email.
The remaining balance of the accommodation, as well as the course fee of SEK 2,900, is to be paid to Vipassanagruppen’s plusgiro 17 43 75-6 no later than April 30th. Write your name as reference.

Refund:
– Cancellations made more than 30 days prior to the start of the retreat: The registration fee is retained by Mundekulla; all remaining amounts paid for accommodation and course fee are refunded.
– Cancellations made 30–15 days prior to the start of the retreat: 50% of the total amount for accommodation and course fee will be charged.
– Cancellations made less than 15 days prior to the start of the retreat: 100% of the total amount for accommodation and course fee will be charged.
