When Awareness Becomes Natural, 20 – 30 June 2019

Silent Vipassana Retreat with Sayadaw U Tejaniya

20–30 June 2019

The retreat is full, but there is a waiting list (with 20 people, Jan 26th 2019). If you sign up for the waiting list, do not pay for the registration fee!

Sayadaw U Tejaniya’s style of teaching and what he emphasizes is dynamic – an evolving process based on his own experiences and with recognition of the difficulties meditators face in their practice. Sayadaw’s teaching is direct and accessible, aided by his deep experience and lively humour.
His teaching is based on the Satipatthana Sutta, the Buddha’s discourse on mindfulness, and emphasizes awareness and ’right view’ in every situation.

The retreat is suitable for both beginners and experienced practitioners. Teachings are offered in English, partly interpreted from Burmese to English.
The daily routine contains instructions for meditation, a working period and on some days group Q&A sessions. For most part of the day there isn’t a fixed programme, the invitation being to sit, walk and do any activities as feels appropriate to cultivate continuity of awareness. The retreat is held mostly in silence, but towards the end of the retreat ’talking meditation’ will be introduced.
Three simple vegetarian meals will be served daily; breakfast, lunch and a light dinner. Participants stay in shared rooms of 2-4 persons. The retreat will take place at Oshofors, Avesta, in the Swedish countryside.

SAYADAW U TEJANIYA was born in 1962 and began practicing meditation as a teenager, training under the late meditation master Shwe Oo Min Sayadaw. After a career in business and life as a householder, he became a monk in 1996. He is the meditation teacher at Shwe Oo Min Meditation Centre in Yangon, Burma and teaches insight meditation retreats worldwide. He is the author of several books in Burmese and has inspired several ghost-written books in his name in English. These English ones are available on his website given below.
Teachings will be translated to English by Ma Thet and long time Sayadaw style practitioner Vajradevi will be assistant teacher. For more information on the teacher and this style of vipassana, please visit www.sayadawutejaniya.org.
